Hi ya'll! I guess I forgot to mention my favorite drivers. Sorry, CD I'm not an Earnhardt fan. I'm from Texas so you "almost" have to be a fan of Bobby or Terry Labonte. My daughter on the other hand is BIG fan of Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin so it gets real interesting at our house sometimes.

 racin-nut on August 14, 1999 1 of 17
great selections....couldn't argue with those picks

 cdavis57 on August 14, 1999 2 of 17
aw heck - but Labonte fans - well ya just cant beat that with any kinda stick. Mark Martin? - I have yet to find anyone that could find a bad thing to say about this guy.

Gordon? - well - ya just might have your daughter have ta put up her dukes on that one.

 Nick_Nascar on August 15, 1999 3 of 17
Great choices there. And it's nice to see some diversity in the house. Sure helps to make race day a lot more interesting that way. I'm from Texas myself and you gotta love the Labonte's and of course no one can dislike Mark Martin.

 Sparkle78 on August 15, 1999 4 of 17
Our selections show that we have good taste (I guess)! It makes race days alot of fun. She was REALLY happy with Gordon's win today!

 Nick_Nascar on August 15, 1999 5 of 17
I'll bet she was. It seems like no one can beat Gordon on a road course anymore. Guess we need to find him some new competition for next year.

 cdavis57 on August 16, 1999 6 of 17
Gordon - (mumble, mumble - *grrrr*, *snap*, *growl*) yea - nice race.

mumble mumble -

I'd have even have taken 5 extra HP from my man Dale Sunday - if I could've stuck it under Rusty's hood.

 jen021072 on August 16, 1999 7 of 17
hey now CD.... no mumbling under your breath about Diaper Boy.... The Glen is just his track!

 Nick_Nascar on August 16, 1999 8 of 17
But Gordon could let someone else win one. Before he got his first road course win he couldn't even buy a good finish. Now he can't lose one it seems. Perhaps a clandestine deal with the Devil somewhere there?

 jen021072 on August 17, 1999 9 of 17
 NN,
Yeah.... I can see it now, Gordon strikes a deal with the devil and covers it up with his "down-home, God fearing, wholesome" image. Hey, ya never know!

 Nick_Nascar on August 17, 1999 10 of 17
Well Jen, it is certainly not something they would advertise. Could you just picture if that were part of the deal? Everytime Gordon runs on the road courses he has to repaint his car with the fires of hell and a huge trident on the hood. *smile*

 racin-nut on August 18, 1999 11 of 17
speakin of image he does a commercial on speedvision talkin about a book like the bible...the same one that the guy from GreenBay packers does...reggie White...it was cool and impressed me anyway

 jen021072 on August 18, 1999 12 of 17
 RN,
Yeah, did you see the ad he had that's running in some magazines for I think it's called something like the "power for living". Don't quote me on that , but you get the idea.
NN,
That would be a riot!! I can see it now....Hey! That explains how the little girl on the bike beat him in the Pepsi commercial.. she's the devil incarnate!!!! :)

 racin-nut on August 18, 1999 13 of 17
yes it is called power of living....

 Nick_Nascar on August 18, 1999 14 of 17
Hey now. I saw that commercial with the girl for the first time just yesterday and it was such a riot. Loved it.

 Sparkle78 on August 21, 1999 15 of 17
Hey Everybody! While your checking out Jeff's commercials has anyone seen the one for Frito's shaped like his car! The commercial is pretty cool. Of course, the next trip to the grocery store - we had to buy the Frito's! They are kind of interesting looking!

 cdavis57 on August 21, 1999 16 of 17
I finally saw the first one (with the little girl on the bike) - very cool. I'll keep an eye open for the Frito one - probably be on tomorrow during the race.

 Nick_Nascar on August 21, 1999 17 of 17
Yeah, the frito one is pretty funny as well. Love that look Jeff gets when the kid's mom shows up. *grin*

 Nick_Nascar on August 19, 1999 5 of 7
Hey CD, any track that's got a Cup race going is a great track to be at. I've only been to Texas and Talladega. Guess I really need to get out more often.

 charajohnson on August 20, 1999 6 of 7
HEY GUYS --I want to go too !!!!!!! When my son was living in Mich he got tickets for me and him and I really enjyed it!!!! Cant remember who won but it wasnt RUSTY or I would say so -----We spent an hour in the parking lot waiting to get out --just like in Atlanta and that is why now I am pretty content to stay home and watch-- sometimes at the track I miss the accidents and at home I dont miss the accidents, and get all the replays. I know its more fun at the track and the beer tastes better!!!!!! I see Dale Jr is in the top 25 --maybe DAD will do better tomorrow!!!!!

 cdavis57 on August 20, 1999 7 of 7
yea - gotta admit - Michigan is "One way in and only one way out" If you don't have a camper to wait out the croud - before and after can be the "pits" (pun intended)

But of course everyone always comes back here for the biggest and the best that NASCAR has to offer.

 ldfckwc on August 22, 1999 3 of 4
nick_nascar just check out some of the others you find that you like them

 Nick_Nascar on August 22, 1999 4 of 4
Erin, I am sorry if I offended you with the above comment. It was intended that way. It is great that you created a community for your favorite driver. It's just that I dont' have time enough for the things that I am involved in here already, and DE is not on my favorite drivers list. I did stop by when you sent me the invite and looks like you have a great start going there. We will miss you here, but I do wish you the best of luck with your new site.

NASCAR Challenge - Part 3
 From: Nick_Nascar   Posted: August 24, 1999

It's time to enter the third segment of the NASCAR Challenge at NASCAR Online. It starts with Bristol and goes through Atlanta. You need to go and create your new team no later than one hour before qualifying begins.

It's all free and there are a few prizes up for grabs, but most importantly are the bragging rights here.

Just go to www.nascar.com and click on the "NASCAR Challenge" box on the left side of your screen. Then create your team, you may have to register first if you have never been there before. But that only takes a minute and it's 100% free.

Once you create your team then click on the "create or join group" link. Our group is NASCARNuts and the password to join is NickNascar .....

Good luck to everyone and we'll see you at the track. :o)

 cdavis57 on August 25, 1999 1 of 17
Coooooolllll. I'm in! (only took a minute)

 racin-nut on August 25, 1999 2 of 17
ok i am in.....rusty, bickle,martin,gordon,strickland...it kept kicking my picks out cause i wanted a team over a 100.....LOL

 Nick_Nascar on August 25, 1999 3 of 17
You have to remember that you are on a budget here. Can't have all the candy in the candy store. No matter how much we fuss and whine for it.

 cdavis57 on August 25, 1999 4 of 17
LOL - But Daaaaaaaaaaaddy, I want all the guys that are winning AND my number 3!!

 cdavis57 on August 26, 1999 5 of 17
Sure would love to see a couple of you gals get in on this - Jeanette, cj, chiclad, jen - can we talk ya into playin along? there's a link in the "links" section that'll take you right there. I think it'll be fun. (Hardest part is finding the country - kinda in the middle as your registering - but all downhill from there. Group: NascarNuts Password:NickNascar.

 charajohnson on August 26, 1999 6 of 17
Well I tried to register in on the Challange but when it got to birthday and other stuff below I thought Ihad registered it woudnt let me in --it wanted a country so I put in United States and it still wouldnt --what am I doing wrong?????? HELP --I emailed Nascar Online but they will take a couple days to answer.

 Nick_Nascar on August 26, 1999 7 of 17
CJ, go and try it again. Sometimes that thing is very finicky. I have had to re-enter things many times over occassionaly to get the groups made. It's worth the effort though.

 racin-nut on August 28, 1999 8 of 17
I can't believe you have to pick before qualifying...Bickle didn't even make it...don't understand 2nd round qualifying...sat practice he was fastest....I would think points and owner stuff would of gotten him in over Strickland, Grissom, Marcus, or Craven too? Can someone help me understand provisionals 37-43

 Nick_Nascar on August 29, 1999 9 of 17
You got me on that one. Bickle is 34th in points. Way above the others mentioned. Don't understand that one at all. Maybe that's a question for Benny Parsons to chew on at RPM2nite.

 DJ8811 on August 31, 1999 10 of 17
Hi Nick, I'm gonna go to it and check it out! Sounds like fun!!

 bigskybandit on August 31, 1999 11 of 17
Hey DJ, hurry up and get over there, I need some competition. *SMILE*

 cdavis57 on August 31, 1999 12 of 17
hmmm .... (thinking to myself - but not commiting foot to mouth just yet)!

 Nick_Nascar on August 31, 1999 13 of 17
LOL I'll commit it, because if you will check another posting around here somewhere (NASCAR Challenge Standings) you might just see someone who appears to have a swelled head here admit that there is another mightier than he. :o)

 charajohnson on September 16, 1999 14 of 17
NN---I tried to get in again w/ Challenge again and they did the same thing -- took me forever to get a User name ---lots of Rustys I guess-- SO I E-Mailed them again at the Go Network -- they are still after the country!!!!!! I guess I will keep trying !!!!

 cdavis57 on September 16, 1999 15 of 17
considering how it's gone so far cj, you just might have more points racked up than me! By the way - Rusty is one of my picks - has been for every race so far -

 Nick_Nascar on September 16, 1999 16 of 17
Sorry to hear that you are still having problems getting in there CJ. Hope you make it in soon. Would love to have you there and I'm sure you can catch CD in just a week or two with a reasonably good team. *ducking* Saw that one coming CD. :o)

 cdavis57 on September 17, 1999 17 of 17
:-( I can't throw anything NN - the situation is just to dang sad. Maybe in a week or two if I can get back in the race. NOT LOL (but still smiling folks!)

WAY TO GO DALE!
From: jeanettetx   Posted: August 28, 1999

Man, what a finish at Bristol! Congratulations Dale Earnhardt for a wild finish and win! I thought I was going to fall off my chair on that one! Whew, that was a close one. :)))

bigskybandit on August 28, 1999 1 of 25
Man, after the stupid stunt the Dale pulled, I just can't bring myself to agree with the win. Dale admitted he hit Terry on purpose, just like Jerry Nadeu when he hit Dale Jarret in the back and spun him out, NASCAR ought to penalize Earnhardt 2 laps and take away his victory.

 racin-nut on August 28, 1999 2 of 25
couldn't of said it better Sky.....there is no deserved congratulations here

 tkfaf on August 28, 1999 3 of 25
Just like Terry said "Dale never intends to spin anyone out, it just seems to happen that way." Personally I think (in almost all similar cases involving D.E.) he is too good a driver to accidently bump someone in such a way that they lose but don't get hurt and he goes on to win. It just has happened too many times that way. D.E. has a talent for making the intentional look accidental. That is why I never had liked Dale. He is an awesome driver who uses his talent for knowing exactly how to get someone out of his way to the win instead of using his driving skill to pass or hold on to the lead.

 bigskybandit on August 28, 1999 4 of 25
Your exactly right TK!!!!!!! I guess the villan is always dressed in black and DE is no exception.

 Rust_y_fan on August 29, 1999 5 of 25
well u all said it terry abviouslly had the faster car.......

 LOutler on August 29, 1999 6 of 25
Guess everyone's gonna have an opinion about this one (Bristol, I mean). So here's mine...Dale ran a great race. Terry bumped him earlier, but the results were not the same. But they could have been. I was upset when Dale Jarrett took out my fave - Bill Elliott, among others. But they say that's racing. I won't be surprised if Nascar does something, but they should look at the big picture, and what other drivers have done to get ahead throughout the year. And I do think congratulations are in order. Dale won!!!

 DJ8811 on August 29, 1999 7 of 25
Hi there, why was Jerry Nadeau punished for tapping DJ and E kept his win?! Not fair, I don't think. I think E was really still on a high from Last week in Michigan and had something to prove this week! My regrets go out to Terry!

 DJ8811 on August 29, 1999 8 of 25
 Hi there everyone,
What's with Nadaeu getting held in the pits for 2 laps and E getting to keep the win! It reminded me of the old days when E had to bump his way to the front!
My heart goes out to Terry, he certainly didn't deserve that! Well, DJ lost 101 to Mark, hope he got his bad race out of the way for the rest of the year!

 DJ-8832 on August 29, 1999 9 of 25
Thats ok DJ...you are still THE MAN!! HAHA!!

 MikeRobar on August 29, 1999 10 of 25
Well - I'll say what I've said everytime I've seen that move on the final lap to the checkers - THAT'S RACIN'!!!!! I don't think E intentionally meant to spin Terry out, just knock him a little loose to drive him up the track and make the pass! Ah - the hell with it - I'm an Earnhardt fan - GO DALE!!!!! That's why they call him the INTIMIDATOR!!!!!!

 bigskybandit on August 29, 1999 11 of 25
Mike, Mike, Mike... We all know what racing is and there is nothing wrong with a litlle rubbing every now and then but hitting a guy hard enought to tear off his rear bumber is going a little too far. I guess it just goes to show you what some of these people will do to get a win. :<)

 Nick_Nascar on August 29, 1999 12 of 25
Ok, here goes. What Dale Earnhardt did was the most unsportsmanlike move I have seen in NASCAR in years. And the second most unsportsmanlike move was when NASCAR cheif Mike Helton said that there was nothing wrong with what he did and he gets to keep the win, the points, and the money.

If there was nothing wrong with what he did, then why did Jerry Nadeau get a 2 lap penalty for the same thing earlier? And if you really look at the tape and listen to what Earnhardt had to say about what happened and how it happened then you will see the truth. Dale gave 3 different stories that I have heard so far. We will go with the most recent right now since that is the one he has had the most time to create. He says that Terry checked up was not holding his line and Dale just couldn't avoid him. Also that he drove into the turn deeper than Terry and when you do that there is no way to stop in time.

Ok, If you watch the tape you will see that Terry was holding a high line through 1 and 2. And that DE was holding his low line right down on the stripe. And when DE realized that he couldn't get past Terry, he just put his foot down and turned to the right, you can see that on the tape, knowing that when he hit Terry it would keep him out of the wall. And on the "drove in too deep" theory, DE is such an experienced driver that if he did drive in that deep he knew the only way he would stay out of the wall, and out of like 18th place, was to hit terry hard enough to get him turned and past Terry. Knowing that a move like that would take Terry out of the race.

What Dale Earnhardt and NASCAR did yesterday will leave a huge black scar on the sport for years to come.

And, if DE was in the right, why where there no cheers for him in Victory Lane? All I heard were 141,000 Boo's.

 edboy2 on August 30, 1999 13 of 25
I'm with you, Nick. It was sportsmanship more suited to championship wrestling or roller derby than to Nascar. The coverage of victory lane was appalling- DE being rightfully vilified by an angry mob, rather than being congradulated by partying fans. If I was him I would have left my helmet on and left immediately. Even though he acknowledged that he screwed up, he has since decided that he did nothing long. Which begs the question- how long will it be before he takes the next logical step and attempts to convince us that he was the victim of this fiasco?

 jeanettetx on August 30, 1999 14 of 25
Snif, snif! (wiping tears of joy from my eyes)

Either way you look at it, he still won and he was aloud to keep the money and the points.

So, what's on for next week??

 cdavis57 on August 30, 1999 15 of 25
Darlington!! YEA!! Cool - someone's been playin with the html stuff here. "...." Huh? "...." What? What do ya mean I can't get out of it that easy? "..C$%#@%^"

OK OK. It was a very exciting race. I know that's not enough, so here goes. 1. Terry DID rap Dale on the previous lap (but not in the middle of the turn) 2. The call on Nadeau was #%##$@R@. 3. What Dale did to Terry between 3 and 4 was wrong. Yes that's right - Me - cdavis said Dale was wrong. I think the "Anybody but Earnhardt" fan club it exagerating it a bit - the rap in the rump did not "tear off his back bumper", and to even be in the position Dale was in shows what a great driver he is considering where he started and pitted. Everyone knows before the green ever falls at Bristol there are going to be some heated discussions by the end of the race - ALWAYS. Those guys are flyin F-16 inside a hanger, and there just isn't the room that you have at Michigan. Let's remember that we are not yelling at one another.

Yes it was wrong. Was it a black day in NASCAR - I don't think so - too many other botched calls this year to even come close. Worst sportsmanship in years - NOT - too many other incidents that were a lot worse. Should the win be taken away from him *cough* - yea I guess it should have been. Dale screwed up - and he knew it. Terry is one of the cleanest drivers I've ever had the pleasure to watch - but ALL the drivers know what Bristol is like, and they all know how the other guy drives. They gave Dale the win - so I WILL say congratulations; but I was not excited about it - I wasn't even happy.

I'll still be rooting for Dale come Darlington, but if Terry bumps DE - well we Earnhardt fans just won't be able to say a whole heck of a lot. Bristol is a difficult track to call - always has been - always will be.

 bigskybandit on August 30, 1999 16 of 25
I like to see an Earnhardt fan idmit that his driver screwed up. Every DE fan I know has agreed that he did not deserve the victory and that Nascar should have taken it away. I still hate the driver but I have gained alot of respect for his fans. I guess your alright CD. :)

 cdavis57 on August 31, 1999 17 of 25
aw shucks - you're makin me blush! Thanks bsb. Hey I like kids and dogs, so I guess I can't be ALL bad. Still gonna root for Dale @ Darlington though - but just maybe if Terry is even close - I'm gonna have to throw a few shouts his way - he's really earned them. (Not JUST at Bristol - but over the years as a real man's man!)

Well i for one thought it was pretty cool to see some good racin just like back in the day. According to todays standards it WAS wrong, but i think racin today needs a little shot in the arm so to speak! It's time to start racin to win not for points! I don't remember anyone complainin about Gordon nudgeing Rustly last year at Martinsville for the win, only difference is Rusty maintained control. Yeah, Yeah Martinsville is a flat track but it's the same difference! We need one standard period, not tailored to meet the track!

I personally don't like the style of driving Dale E. does. Dale likes to use force when it is unnecessary. I think it takes a little more skill and a lot more professionalism to pass someone cleanly, but I would of had no room to say anything if Nascar had let the Jerry Nadeau incident slide. I like to watch the bumping and shoving at the short tracks as much as anyone, but lets be even across the board. Besides the Nadeau/Jarrett incident looked like an accident and the Dale E./Terry incident.....well Dale did say he wanted to rattle Terry's cage.

By the way, did anyone watch "Inside Winston Cup" on Mon. when the drivers were talking about the race. One of them made a comment that went something like-----> there was a lot of guys up in the Nascar trailer who were saying that if Dale got away with what he did then it was on. Benson followed that up by saying that although some guys are okay with getting a win that way, he wouldn't want to win that way. Of course he might feel differently if he was only one car away from a win.
